The house

Wooden chairs from Manzano since 1911.

Billiani began in 1911 making curved wooden chairs with rush seats, in a family workshop in Manzano, near Udine. The town later became the centre of Italian chair making. Luigi Billiani, third generation and an architect, and his wife Veronik Romanutti turned the company towards design in the late 1990s.

Wood remains the central material and the chair the core product. The company states it uses only FSC and PEFC certified wood, and combines artisanal and industrial methods. Cristina Celestino has led artistic direction since 2019.
