Estante is designed by Juan Ibáñez for Sancal (2019).

How does Estante absorb sound?

The upholstered back, side panels and doors are made of sound-absorbing textile, and the perforated aluminium doors let sound through to it. Together they soften echo in the room, so the more textile you add, the stronger the effect.

How do I order an Estante composition?

Choose a unit by width and height, then add panels and doors for each level you want to close. Sancal asks for a sketch showing which levels get panels and doors, so send us your layout and we will check it before confirming. Units of three tiers or taller must be fixed to a wall.

Which finishes are available?

The oak pillars and legs can be stained in any colour from Sancal's chart. Shelves are aluminium, and the textile is Uniform Melange. The 60 cm high units are also available on wheels.

Where is Estante made?

Estante is made to order by Sancal in Spain. It ships flat and needs assembly; instructions are included.

The Estante Acoustic Shelving by Sancal is a modular storage system with sound-absorbing panels and doors, designed by Juan Ibáñez in 2019.

Oak, Fabric and Aluminium

Aluminium shelves form the base. Solid oak pillars and legs screw in to build the frame, which is then dressed with perforated aluminium doors and upholstered panels. The textile absorbs sound, so Estante also calms the acoustics of the room.

Build It Your Way

Units: 70, 140 or 210 cm wide, from one level (60 cm high) to four levels (178 cm high)
Wheels: the 60 cm high units can roll, as a trolley or bedside table
Panels: upholstered back and side panels for any level
Doors: perforated aluminium, textile, or a mix

Use it as a sideboard, bookcase, TV unit or room divider, and reconfigure it whenever you like.
