Tsumugi B Pendant Lamp by Motarasu

The Tsumugi B Pendant Lamp by Motarasu is a washi paper and bamboo lantern pendant, 78 cm high, with closely set ribs. Designed by Toshiyuki Tani.

Available in Dubai through WSPR.

Woven Together

Tsumugi means to weave together, and this lantern is about the quiet harmony of material, craft and light. It follows the traditional collaboration between bamboo craftsmen and washi paper artisans, where form comes from careful attention rather than force.

The ribs sit closer together than on a conventional lantern, which gives a finer texture when lit. Each lantern holds approximately 75 metres of ribs, and the bamboo at the base throws a soft rhythm of shadow. Motarasu is a Danish design house that brings Danish and Japanese designers together under one brand, with a shared taste for minimal form and careful craft.
